The booking is confirmed. The dates are in the diary, the accommodation is arranged, and the route is taking shape on your phone. But an email confirmation cannot tell us whether your saddle feels right. It cannot notice that you are unsure about tomorrow’s luggage transfer, or give you a chance to ask the question you thought was too small to send.

For us, personal cycling holidays in Slovenia begin with a conversation before the first kilometre. Most guests meet someone from our local team before setting off. We introduce ourselves, ask where you have travelled from, and get to know the person who will be riding the route we have prepared.

There is practical work to do. There is also someone to welcome.

Personal cycling holidays in Slovenia start with a welcome

Our welcome meeting starts quite simply: introductions, a question about your journey, a few words about the days ahead. Have you been to Slovenia before? What are you looking forward to? Is there anything about the route you would like to discuss?

The answers help us understand your expectations. You may have enjoyed several self-guided cycling holidays and want to clarify one stage. You may be doing this for the first time and wondering how everything works once we wave goodbye.

We make room for both kinds of questions, with someone there to listen and explain.

Together, we review your travel documents and the practical details: where you are staying, how luggage transfers work, and anything important about the start or finish of a stage. We point out route features that deserve attention and explain what to expect.

We also check that the explanation makes sense. A document can be complete and still leave someone uncertain. Sometimes a look at the map resolves it. Sometimes we explain something again. That is part of the preparation.

A bike that fits you

The correct frame size is a starting point. We check the saddle height, riding position and basic comfort, making adjustments with you there. A bike can look suitable on paper and feel quite different when you sit on it.

Perhaps you prefer a different saddle position or are used to a more upright bike at home. We want to hear that before you spend a morning trying to get comfortable.

We cannot make every hill flat, but we can take the time to get the saddle right.

If you are riding an e-bike, we check it and explain the controls, assistance settings and battery charging. Some guests use one every day; others are about to try one for the first time.

You do not need to know everything before you arrive. We would much rather answer a question beside the bike than leave you puzzling over a button at the bottom of a climb.

The practical side of personal cycling holidays in Slovenia starts here: a bicycle that suits you and enough familiarity to enjoy riding it.

Open the route together

We also check Guibo with you before departure.

Having navigation on your phone is useful. Knowing how to use it matters once you reach the first junction.

Together, we open the route, review the instructions and show you how to follow them. Then you try it yourself, finding the information without someone pointing at the screen.

We check that everything works before you leave and answer any questions. Something can seem obvious during a demonstration and less obvious a moment later.

Self-guided travel gives you independence. A clear briefing helps you use it with confidence.

You know who is behind the journey

By now, you have met someone from CyclingSlovenia. There is a name to go with the phone number and a face behind the arrangements.

You know whom to call if you need help: someone from the local team supporting your trip, who understands the route and its logistics.

We also know a little about you—where you have come from, what you hope to enjoy, perhaps something you were concerned about. That helps if you call later.

We do not think of this as an extra service. It is simply how we welcome a guest.

When you ride the first kilometre, we want you to know three things: where you are going, how you will get there, and whom you can call if you need something.

Then you can turn your attention to Slovenia.

Bike damage waiver

A standard damage waiver is already included with every Helia rental bike. For accidental damage during normal, responsible use, your excess is €50 for a touring bike or €150 for an e-bike, gravel, road or mountain bike.

The optional waiver upgrade reduces this excess to €0. It costs €25 for a touring bike or €50 for other bike types, per bicycle for the full tour.

For qualifying theft of a securely locked bike, the upgrade limits your liability to €150 for a touring bike or €300 for other bike types. The bike must be secured as specified in our terms, the theft reported promptly to Helia and the police, and a copy of the police report supplied.

The waiver does not cover loss, improperly secured bikes, intentional damage or gross negligence, riding under the influence, unapproved use, missing accessories, or continued riding with an obvious technical fault. Full conditions and exclusions apply.

For specially arranged bikes supplied by a rental partner, please ask us to confirm the applicable waiver terms.
